I think that sounds like a great idea, but I also think that, as a high-level approach, it’s kind of the “garden shears” method (referenced in the introduction). One-on-ones are good to refine your understanding, and to get buy-in from individual customers, but they’re insufficient to get a sense of the broader patterns of a market. It’s simply too time-consuming to do as many as you would need to in order to get a sense of whether there’s a good amount of people out there with similar problems.
